THE RACE for qualifying berths in the Big Four play-off of the Churches Football League continued last weekend with Khandahar Open Bible being at the end of a 5-2 whipping by RLC in Group “A” of the Premiership Division.
After three matches the Five Rivers men are yet to get a point despite goals from Kevon Alleyne in their losing effort.
RLC, champions three years ago, kept themselves well in position to secure the top spot in the group with a beaver-trick from Donnell Herbert and another from Quinton Forgenie.
In another group “A” match, giants Genesis were edged 4-3 by GMCC. With the win GMCC have moved to second in the group behind GEMS.
GMCC got items from Antonio Allain, Dinell Lopez, Ricardo Mattis and an own goal which took their tally to four.
Genesis’ three goals saw them break loose of a goal-scoring drought in their earlier three matches, despite the defeat.
They got goals from Allister Pascal, Paul Jones and Tacuma Jones. In group “B”, Curepe A-Men rebounded from a defeat in their last match to hammer Devine Encounter 6-1. Goals for the Curepe men came from a hat-trick by Keron Doldron and a goal apiece from Ayinde Perousa and Terrance Williams.
Meanwhile West End Pentecostal earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Woodbrook AIC courtesy goals from Kevon Hamilton, Kevin Headley and Kareem Simon. Jarson Morris and Sean Alleyne were the scorers for Woodbrook.
There was also action in the First Division where battles for promotion to the Premiership division took place.
In the opening group “A” game, St James Pentecostal fired five goals past FAI in a convincing 5-2 victory. All five goals were scored by Jeremiah Jeffers while Marvin Charles and Neil Castle were the scorers for FAI.
