GEMS and Greater Malabar Christian Centre (GMCC) fought to a 2-2 draw in Group “A” of the Premiership Division as the Final Round of the Churches Football League took place recently.
Jevon Simon and Dacian John were the goal-getters for GEMS, but Dinell Lopez and Lorenzo Baptiste responded for GMCC.
The other Group “A” fixture, between Khandahar Open Bible and Genesis, was abandoned due to a waterlogged field.
West End Pentecostal earned a narrow 2-1 win over Divine Encounter in a Group “B” contest - Kyle Andrews and Kareem Simon found the back of the net for West End, with Sean Cato replying for Divine Encounter.
The largest margin of victory occurred in the First Division Group “A” clash between St James Pentecostal and Gideon, with St James cruising to a 7-2 hammering. Isaiah Alexander recorded a hat-trick for St James, while Christian Baptiste, Jelani Mitchell, Jermaine Jeffers and Joshua Scooner chipped in with one apiece.
John Stuart and Akiel Pitt netted for Gideon.
Levi Baptiste also registered a treble, as he guided Shekinah All Stars to a 3- 0 win over Cathedral FC, in the other Group “A” battle.
In Group “B”, Grande Praise defeated Divine Destiny Eagles 2-1, with Andre Alexander and Kayoune Rennie finding the back of the net for Grande Praise, while Keshon Vane responded for Eagles.
Keyon Alexander notched a treble for 4D Glory, who were held to a tense 3- 3 draw by Cumuto.
Tyrone Alexander netted twice for Cumuto, with John Auguste getting the other.
The Big Four tournament, comprising the top two teams in each group, in each division, got going on Saturday.
