TTFA President congratulates Club Sando on Super League Cup final success

The Southerners and Guaya United thrilled close to 3,500 fans with an entertaining and tightly contested final before Club Sando emerged 4-3 winners at the end of regulation time.

Club Sando raced to a 3-0 lead through goals by Teba McKnight (22nd), Corneal Thomas (25th) and Devon Modeste (28th) before Guaya fought themselves back into the game through Jody Allisop (34th) Kevin Jagdeosingh three minutes before half time. Andy London then put Sando 4-2 ahead in the 48th before Carlon Hughes sparked an exciting finish with a 75th minute item.

“It was a fantastic final and a great occasion for the Super League by all accounts,” Tim Kee stated.

“When I heard about the fanfare at the match and the type of contest it turned out to be I was extremely pleased. It says to me that the interest in the local game continues to grow and that something right is happening. I wish to commend all those who have played their part in the running of the tournament and to our partners bMobile for their continued support,” he added.

“To the teams I say well played and continue to strive for greater things. Your actions on the field of play speaks volumes and your following continues to grow. I would like to challenge the other teams in the Super League to match your efforts which will no doubt have a positive effect on the league and the standard of competition,” Tim Kee said.

Both Tim Kee and TTFA General Secretary Sheldon Phillips missed the encounter due to having departed for the Cayman Islands to attend the inaugural CONCACAF summit.

The match was witnessed by T&T Senior team head coach Stephen Hart who also commended both teams on an entertaining final adding “I thought it was a fitting contest for a final. This is what the fans wanted. We saw some good football, good goals and an entertaining match.”
