Akeem Humphrey and Devon Modeste both scored for the second straight match as Club Sando came from behind to whip La Horquetta SA 3-1 to open a two-point cushion at the top of the T&T Football Association National Super League “Big-Eight” competition on Sunday.

Andre Rampersad fired La Horquetta ahead as early as the seventh minute but Humphrey drew Club Sando level in the 39th before Modeste (83rd) and former Guyana captain Charles Pollard (88th) struck late to grab all three points and carry their tally to maximum six. two more than Siparia Spurs which was held goalless by Petrotin Palo Seco, while Defence Force edged 1976 Phoenix 1-0.

In their first round matches on Wednesday, former national youth team player Jack Weedon (32nd), Humphrey (48th) and Modeste (88th) were on target in Club Sando’s similar 3-1 whipping of Guaya United which got its lone reply from Leroy Jones two minutes into the second-half.

In the other matches, WASA held off Petrotrin Palo Seco 2-1 and Siparia Spurs crushed Phoenix 4-1.

And in the relegation “Big-Eight” battle Real Maracas and Stokely Vale are joint top of the table with a win each.
