Joe Public FC and Economy Strikers registered comfortable victories Sunday to occupy the top positions of the bmobile National Super League standings.

Joe Public thumped Queen's Park Cricket Club (QPCC) 7-0, with a double from Ricardo Bennett (14th and 16th minutes) and a goal each from Brent Antoine (1st), Anthony Thompson (37th), Dexter Thornhill (55th), Ellis Dyette (70th) and Dorian Robinson (73rd).

Strikers shut out Defence Force 4-0 when Dorian Daniel (25th), Irvin Reyes (45th), Shervin Charles (80th) and Jesse Martinez (82nd) found the back of the net for their team.

After Sunday's results, Joe Public are ahead of Strikers on goal difference (10-9), with both teams on nine points from their three games to date.

Club Sando, who turned back East West Coaching School 4-1, kept apace and are in third with six points from two games.

In other Super League results, St Francois Nationals' Dwayne Alzola's 73rd minute goal neutralised M&M Harvard's strike from Christon Freitas in the 44th minute for a 1-1 stalemate; Carenage United, with goals from Clint Williams and Steven Edward, notched a 2-0 win over Harlem Strikers; and WASA FC's Fabian Garcia and Darrin Lewis netted one each for a 2-0 triumph over T&TEC.

The next round of Super League matches kicks off Sunday.

Angostura 1976 Phoenix FC suffered a 3-2 defeat by Club Sando in the bmobile National Super League, League Championship tournament in Trinidad on Sunday.

The Canaan/Bon Accord-based team went into the game hoping to register a second consecutive victory but they were outplayed by the opponents.

Club Sando enjoyed the better of the exchanges and had much more ball possession. They opened their account midway in the first half and went into the half with their one-goal buffer.

On the resumption, Phoenix looked sharper in the first five minutes and was soon rewarded with the equalizer courtesy a beauty from Andel Noray.

However, their success was short-lived as soon after Sando went ahead and took full control of the game. They sealed the issue ten minutes before full time while Phoenix got a consolation goal just before the final whistle.

Head coach Terry Williams, like the other coaches now has the challenge of keeping his charges interested and mentally and physically prepared over the next month when competition will be temporarily suspended.

Joe Public jumped to the top position in the 13-team standings in the Bmobile National Super League after demolishing Queen’s Park 7-0 in Match Day Three action on Sunday.

The “Eastern Lions” leapfrogged Economy Strikers at the top of the table by virtue of a better goal difference, even though Economy spanked Defence Force 4-0. But TTEC, who were hot on the heels of Economy and Joe Public entering Sunday’s round of play, fell to fourth place after a 2-0 defeat to WASA, while Club Sando moved to third following a 4-1 trouncing of East/West Coaching School.

At the St Anthony’s College Ground in Westmoorings, Joe Public were in a merciless mood against the Parkites, with Brent Antoine commencing the rout as early as the first minute.

Midfielder Ricardo Bennett notched a pair, in the 14th and 16th minutes, while Anthony Thompson gave the visitors a 4-0 half-time lead after he found the back of the net in the 37th.

Joe Public did not let down their guard in the second half, with Dexter Thornhill (55th), Ellis Dyette (70th) and Dorian Robinson (73rd) all getting their names on the scoresheet.

Economy Strikers, from Sangre Grande, got strikes from Dorian Daniel (25th), Irvin Reyes (45th), Shervin Charles (80th) and Jesse Martinez (82nd) as they cruised to their third straight victory, in the first of back-to-back matches at the Youth Camp Ground in Chaguaramas.

ALCOA Carenage United whipped Harlem Strikers 2-0 in the latter game at Chaguaramas, courtesy items from Clint Williams (28th) and Steven Edward (40th).

At the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, Andy London registered a hat-trick as Club Sando cruised to their second triumph, at the expense of East/West.

London was on target in the sixth, 67th and 77th minutes, while Kyle Morgan got Sando’s fourth in the 82nd, while Michael Alexis got East/West’s lone item in the 12th.

Fabian Garcia (38th) and Darrin Lewis (60th) were the goal-getters for WASA, as they blanked fellow utility body T&TEC at the WASA Ground in St Joseph.

And, at the Cumana Recreation Ground in Toco, St Francois Nationals got a 73rd minute equaliser from Dwayne Alzola to tie 1-1 versus M&M Harvard, who benefitted from a 44th minute strike from Christon Freitas. Match Day Four action will take place on May 24.
