T&TEC completed the inevitable, when they claimed the 2010 bmobile National Super League title with two matches remaining, as they squeezed out a 2-1 come from behind win over 1976 Phoenix in a re-scheduled match at the Canaan, Bon Accord, ground, Tobago, yesterday.
This gives the utility company a clean sweep of the titles in the Super League this season, after claiming the knock-out crown. T&TEC made amends for failing to capture a title in their debut season in 2009, after being beaten by Economy Strikers in the knock-out, and finishing runners-up to bmobile Joe Public in the league.
Sylvester Teesdale’s injury time goal lifted the unbeaten “Electricity Boys” to the their 13th win this season, after the Tobagonian side threatened to put a hold on the celebration, as they took a 1-0 lead, compliments of a Dominique Kerr strike in the 34th minute.
Bevon Lewis, however, halted the hosts plans, drawing T&TEC level with a strike in the 67th, before Teesdale’s strike sealed the title. The “Electricity Boys” moved to an unassailable 43 points at the top of the standings.
