Arima Boys RC School, last year’s champion of the Atlantic National Primary School Football League, cruised into the semifinal round of the 2010 competition, with an impressive 6–2 whipping of Vos Government, yesterday at the Arima Velodrome.

The champions looked good as they defended their title leading 3–0 at the half. In the second session Arima Boys let up a little, scoring three more goals while their southern rivals hit back with two goals. In the girl’s competition, Vance River put an end to the successful reign of Toco Anglican with a 4–2 victory at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

Toco Anglican was the team which ended the reign of Carapichaima RC with a narrow 1–0 victory last week, in the round of 16. At the Arima Velodrome, Tunapuna Boy’s RC and top Tobago team, Whim Anglican, battled to a 1–1 draw before extra time and could not produce a winner.

However, it took nine kicks each from the spot before Whim Anglican walked off the field winners (5–4). Earlier, at the same venue Montgomery Government, the Tobago girl’s champion, moved into the semifinal round with a 2–1 victory over Dinsley Trincity on penalty kicks.

At the Hasely Crawford Stadium training field, four-time national champion, Carenage Boys Government beat Eastern Boys Government in a rematch of the Port-of-Spain final. This time Carenage walked away 2–0 winner. At the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Port-of-Spain girl’s champion, St Agnes Anglican School raced into the semifinal with a 1–0 win over St David RC.

In the girls competition, the match scheduled between Victoria Education District champion, Vos Government and Mason Hall will be played at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago, on Monday beginning at 10 am.
