Tablepiece Government and Bethesda Government won their respective matches in the fifth Goderick Alfred Tobago Primary School Football Cup when the Tobago Primary School Football kicked off its new season with first round matches on Tuesday.
Tablepiece Government defeated Ebenezer Methodist by a 4-2 margin in the first round match at the Louis D'Or Recreation Ground. Brandon Gregoire led the way for Tablepiece with two goals while Nicholas Bailey and Dwarika Moses pipped in with one goal each.
Ebenezer's consolation goals were scored by Keishawn Parisienne and Tyrese Lewis.
Tablepiece will now face defending Champions, Whim Anglican, in the second round on Friday at the Mt Grace Recreation Ground.
Meanwhile, Darion Melville notched a beaver-trick for Bethesda Government, who whipped Speyside Anglican 9-0 in the second match at the Speyside Recreation Ground.
Tyreke Gordon and Kwame Cadore added to goals each for Bethesda while Quamie McDougall also netted one goal for the winning side.
Bethesda's victory earned them a quarterfinal showdown with Montgomery Government at the Montgomery Recreation Ground next Monday.
Action continued yesterday with three second round matches all kicking off at 1 pm. Inaugural Champions, Buccoo Government, began their quest to repeat their 2007 success when they took on St Patrick Anglican at the Mt Pleasant Recreation Ground.
Signal Hill Government hosted Scarborough Methodist at the Signal Hill Recreation Ground while Hope Anglican played Scarborough Roman Catholic at Dusty Park.
