When the Soca Warriors travel throughout the country in a motorcade next month they will receive diet food specially prepared by the staff of the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation.


The members of the national football squad preparing for the World Cup campaign in Germany in June will get the special food on May 12 when the motorcade stops for lunch at Parvati Girls High School, Debe.

The visit expected to last 35 minutes, from 1.35 p.m. forms part of the corporation's first ever Heritage Festival Week from May 6-13.

Announcing plans to celebrate the festival, corporation chairman Dr Allen Sammy said yesterday that 40 schools will participate in a village Olympics to share in $21,800 worth of prizes.

Comprising eight electoral districts in a 240-square kilometre area, the corporation looks after utiltities for a population of 80,000 with 40 schools including 11 secondary schools.

The Warriors' visit will precede a walkathon led by Parvati Girls Hindu to the Big Apple Entertainment Centre, Southern Main Road, Debe

Allen said that the theme of the festival, which will include sporting and cultural activities, is "Creating Excellence in Community Life'.

Allen said each village in the community would be involved.

The curtain comes down with a Festival Queen Show at the Big Apple on May 13.
