Kayla Taylor bagged a brace to lead South champions Debe Secondary to a fifth successive final in the BGTT Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Girls Championship Big-Four competition, following a 3-0 whipping of St Augustine Secondary, yesterday.

Taylor’s double, along with a lone item from Patrice Vincent, made it a simple evening for the country’s most dominant schoolgirl’s outfit, who got all three goals in the first half. The win sees Debe set to meet either Tobago’s Signal Hill or North’s St Francois Girls High, which will play in the second semifinal tomorrow, at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, Tobago.

Debe, which has won the Big-Four competition three years in a row (2008, 2009 and 2010) will be looking to take the trophy this year after losing in the 2011 final, 1-0 to El Dorado East. Debe has won every competitive match, including eight league fixtures this year and will be favoured to win the title.

On Thursday, Debe secured the South Zone BGTT/First Citizens InterCol title after beating Vesigny 3-2. St Augustine was similarly dominant. However, the East Zone runaway champions drew just one league match, while winning every other fixture. St Augustine also scored by far more goals than any other team in the country, with a whopping 66 goals in only 10 league matches.

Despite the disappointing result, St Augustine remains alive in the InterCol competition, after sealing a win over Providence on penalty kicks in the North/East semifinal.
