Roxborough Secondary continued its unbeaten run in the Girls’ Secondary School Football League yesterday, with a 13–0 demolishing of Mason Hall Secondary.

National Under-20 player, Natalia Benjamin scored eight goals, and Andrea Fraser netted four as Roxborough made full use of its home advantage. Fraser’s younger sister, Andrel Fraser, scored the other for Roxborough.

In the North Zone, St Joseph’s Convent bounced back from a 3–0 defeat to Maple Leaf on Friday, to register a convincing 6–1 victory against Malick Secondary. National U-20 player, Tiana Bataeu scored three of her team’s goals, while Megan Murray (two goals) and Tinika Edgehill, scored the rest. Maple Leaf’s unbeaten streak came to an end when it finally met the North Zone defending champion, Providence Girls’ and lost 3–0.

Providence’s usual goal scorers Mellissa Woo Ling and Akesha De La Rosa saw their team home, while an own goal added to the tally. With the second round carded to start on Thursday, Providence now looks set to take the North Zone title once more, as there seems to be no team in the zone capable of beating them.

There were no surprises in the South Zone, as Debe easily got past Point Fortin East 8–0, while Holy Faith Convent continued its fine form (tarnished only by its 3–0 defeat to Debe) with a 2–1 win against Fyzabad Anglican. The match against Pleasantville Secondary and Moruga Secondary, was not played, due to a ‘double booking’ at Skinner Park, where they were scheduled to play.

The teams showed up to find the ground in use by the Southern Football Association.
