Two-time reigning Tobago champion, Speyside Secondary will have the home advantage today, when it hosts Central Zone champion Chaguanas North, in the Coca-Cola National InterCol quarterfinal, in the second fixture of a double-header, at Shaw Park, Tobago, from 5.30 pm.

The opening match will see St Augustine Secondary and Scarborough Secondary, winners of the East and Tobago Zone InterCol competition, respectively, face off in the National Schoolgirls InterCol final, at 3.30 pm. The second match, today, is the lone quarterfinal in the National InterCol. Up for grabs is a place in the semifinal against North Zone champion, Fatima College, which defeated East Mucurapo on penalty kicks (4-2) after a 2-2 stalemate in the zonal final, last Thursday.

As confirmed by the SSFL, both semifinal fixtures will be played on Friday in a double-header at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port-of-Spain. Both teams have already been confirmed for the first semifinal, the regular faces in East Zone champion, St Augustine Secondary, and South Zone surprise package Princes Town Secondary. The first semifinal on Friday is carded for 3.30 pm, before the clash between Fatima College and the winner of today’s boys’ fixture, which is scheduled for a 5.30 pm, kick-off.

Speyside, which came out on top in the SSFL Tobago league competition went on to win the Tobago InterCol competition for the second straight year, this time with a comfortable 4-2 win over Mason Hall (league runner-up) in the final, last Monday. Brandon Benjamin led the way with a brace (74th and 90th), while Weah Adams (23rd) and Marcus Caesar (82nd), both added one goal each in a come-from-behind effort.

The Tobago school’s opponent, Chaguanas North, meanwhile, finished runner-up in the league competition, after a deduction of points, before taking the Central Zone InterCol competition, 3-2, against arch-rival Carapichaima East Secondary, last Tuesday. Chaguanas North fell behind twice in that encounter, before taking the win just after the hour-mark through a goal from Dion O’Garro.
