ST AUGUSTINE SC clinched the Women League Football (WoLF) First Division East Zone competition after a 3-1 victory over Sweaters at the St Augustine Secondary Comprehensive School last Sunday.
Jennel Kissoon, Denisha O’Brien and Chelsea Gibbs found the back of the net for St Augustine while Deandra Dottins got the consolation strike for Sweaters.
Also in the East Zone, Arima Giants earned a 3-0 default win over hosts Malabar Superstars at the Larry Gomes Stadium Training Field, Arima.
Now the attention will turn towards the Big Eight Knockout competition, which kicks off today, from 5 pm, with Sweaters meeting St Ann’s Rangers at the Larry Gomes Stadium.
Three other matches are carded for this Sunday, with Arima Giants travelling to the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella to face Debe All Stars at 2 pm while, two hours later, St Augustine will have a duel against Tobago All Stars.
But, at 3 pm, Point Fortin Pioneers are set to battle Step by Step FC at the Edinburgh 500 Ground, Chaguanas.
In related news, the semi-finals of the FA Trophy will take place on July 12, with Trincity Nationals opposing Arima Giants and Malick City battling Real Dimension.
