The Tobago Football Association (TFA) competitions got off to an eventful start over the weekend with games in all three divisions.
In Division one, Golden Lane FC scored a convincing 10-0 win over the youthful Mason Hall Police Youth Club (PYC). Formerly of Stokely Vale, Antonio Balfour returned to Tobago footbal—after playing in the Super League for the past five seasons—and netted a hat-trick of goals for Golden Lane.
In the Premier Division, Georgia FC and Sidey’s scored convincing wins.
At River Bank Oval in Mt St George, a double from Kerron Phillips and one apiece from man of the match Kareem Gibbs and debutant Kasiya Thomas gave Georgia a 4-1 victory over 1976 FC Phoenix, who replied through Delroy Morgan.
And at Speyside, Sidey’s triumphed, the home team whipping defending FA Cup champions Roxborough Lakers 3-0.
In another Premier Division game, Bethel United and Lambeau FC battled to a 1-1 draw.
In the Championship Division, Hills United and Signal Hill United played to a 1-1 draw, with goals from Ricardo Williams and Christopher Morgan, respectively, while St Clair’s Coaching School failed to turn up for their game against Black Rock FC at Shaw Park.
