Trinidad and Tobago's senior women footballers had a great end to their successful tour of Central America last week, beating Costa Rica 4-0.

For the "Soca Princesses", striker Kennya "Ya Ya" Cordner netted a hat-trick, while Patrice Superville got the other goal.

T&T started with with Ayana Russell, Kayla Taylor, Maylee Attin Johnson, Anastasia Prescott, goalie Shalette Alexander, Afiyah Matthias, Kennya Yaya Cordner, Patrice Superville, Janine Francois, Jonelle Warrick and Tasha St Louis.

The T&T women lost the tour opener 0-1 to the Costa Ricans, before earning a 2-2 draw with club team Alejuela. They then beat Arsenal 3-0, with Cordner (two goals) and veteran playmaker Tasha St Louis the scorers.

Under veteran women's coach Marlon Charles, T&T are preparing for 2015 World Cup qualifying. Although a number of the T&T players are in their mid-twenties, some have been together on the national team as 16 year-olds before graduating from the USA college circuits.

Given proper preparation, T&T could be be contenders for a World Cup spot, even with the US and Canada expected to fill two automatic qualifying spots.

CONCACAF have gained another automatic qualifying spot as well as a World Cup playoff spot, positions which most likely be decided between Mexico, Costa Rica and T&T.

The T&T women have been steadily improving, and last year held two-time World Cup qualifiers Mexico 1-1 in Guadelajara and suffered a tight loss to eventual winners Canada at the 2010 Pan Am Games.
