T&T’s senior and Under-19 women footballers are scheduled to leave for Goshen, Indianapolis, US at eight o’clock tonight for a tour from tomorrow to July 24.


According to team manageress Ricarda Nelson the tour comes following a solid month’s preparation and will be used as further preparation for the Women’s Under-19 World Cup qualifying campaign.

T&T is carded to oppose the US Under-21 team, the Mexican senior team, professional women’s club Indiana—the club of T&T defenders Leslie Ann James and Tasha St Louis.

The 23-member T&T squad is being coached by Jamal Shabazz with Marlon Charles, Kestor Lendor and Isla Brown serving as assistant coaches. Steve Fredericks is the equipment manager/goalkeeping coach.

The party leaving Trinidad tonight will be joined by six foreign-based players—Akiela Mollon (Atlanta), Nicole Betancourt (North Carolina), Patrice Rose (Atlanta), Avion Tobias (Miami), Dawn-Marie Alfred and May-Lee Attin Johnson (Newark, New Jersey) on arrival in the US.

The team is working toward the Under-19 qualifiers in August, involving 19 Caribbean teams in four groups, with the four best teams from each group to meet in November for a series to decide the representatives from the Caribbean in the Concacaf qualifying group.
