A second half effort from Kerry Superville gave La Horquetta XF, a narrow 1-0 win over St John’s United to secure the runner-up in last year’s competition a spot in the quarterfinal stage of the Eastern Football Association (EFA) Knockout competition, last Thursday.

Superville’s 71st minute item saw La Horquetta advance to next week’s last-eight stage, where it was pitted against either Sparta TT FC or Tunapuna Titans, two teams of which were scheduled to meet, but saw their fixture postponed to Thursday.

Also securing spots in the knockout competition were Joe Public, T&T Prisons, BM Spurs, Malabar Superstars and Arawak Arima Combined. Joe Public was made to work overtime for its quarterfinal berth as the club came from a goal down to drop T&T Airguard 2-1. Andy Alves opened for T&T Airguard on the hour mark, and it seemed to be the deciding effort, before Julien Nathan equalised in the 88th, followed by an Anthint Frank winner in extra time.

Three other fixtures were rescheduled and will be played on Thursday. Sparta FC will meet Tunapuna Titans at the Eddie Hart Savannah, from 4.15 pm.

Eastern Alliance and Valtrin United will meet at the Prime Minister’s Ground, from 6 pm, while WASA FC and La Horquetta SA clash at WASA Ground, at the same time. Also at 6 pm on Thursday, BM Spurs and Arawak Arima Combined will meet at the Bourg Mulatresse Recreation Ground.
