GEMS were held to a high-scoring 3-3 draw by GMCC (Greater Malabar Christian Centre) on August 13 in a Group “A” Premiership Division contest in the Churches Football League.
In the top-of-the-table meeting, Jevon Simon, Keron Bethelmy and Yusuff Perry found the back of the net for the reigning Premiership champs GEMS but Ricardo Mattis got a double and Antonio Allain the other for GMCC.
The other Group “A” Premiership meeting was a one-sided affair, as Khandahar Open Bible spanked Genesis 5-2. Kevon Alleyne was a virtual one-man show, netting a beaver-trick, while Ashton John chipped in with the other. Alister Crosby and Denzil Hislop replied for Genesis.
In Group “B”, the unbeaten Daybreak United inflicted a 7-0 rout on hosts Woodbrook AIC. Elijah Robert and Michael Williams each netted a double, while captain/coach Jason Richardson, Kevin Williams and Jimmy James added one apiece.
West End Pentecostal also had a field-day in Group “B”, as they crushed Divine Encounter Ministries 5-0, courtesy of a hat-trick from Kareem Simon, while Kyle Anderson and Jaron Nurse chipped in with one each.
There were a quartet of games which took place in the First Division.
In Group “A”, Gideon cruised past St James 4-1, with Dwayne Blackman finding the back of the net twice while Tevon Lee and Michael Marcano got one each for the unbeaten Gideon. Jermaine Jeffers got the consolation strike for St James.
Cathedral FC also showed no mercy on their opponents, as they thrashed Shekinah All Stars 5-0, with player/coach Nicholas Mapp, Nigel Neptune, Shevon Murphy, Adisia Jordan and Matthew Wilshire getting their names on the scoresheet.
The major shock of the day saw the previously unbeaten Grande Praise lose 1-0 to Divine Destiny Eagles. Keshon Vane was the hero for Eagles, who earned their first points of the season.
Also in Group “B”, 4D Glory whipped Cumuto Strike Force 3-1, with a pair from Marion Abram and one from Clinton Joseph, while Stephon Joseph responded for Cumuto.
