NIGEL THOMAS scored a pair as Tobago FC Phoenix 1976 spanked Real Maracas 3-1 on Thursday, at the Maracas Recreation Ground in St Joseph, in a Match Day 24 contest of the CNG National Super League Premiership Division.

Thomas found the back of the net in the 17th and 68th minutes, as third-placed Phoenix reduced the deficit between themselves and second-placed Defence Force (who were on a bye) to eight points. 

Cleon Melville got the first goal for Phoenix, in the fourth minute, while Marvin Manswell got the lone strike for Real Maracas, in the 44th. The clash between leaders Guaya United and Petrotrin Palo Seco was pushed back to February 14. But Guaya sit atop the standings with 47 points.

Matura ReUnited climbed one spot to fourth after a 3-1 triumph away to Stokely Vale FC, at the Plymouth Recreation Ground. 

Dorian Robinson netted twice, in the 13th and 56th minutes, while Keran Figuera scored the other, in the 43rd. Lashawn Roberts pulled one back for Stokely Vale, in the 72nd. Jesse Reyes got his name on the scoresheet, in the 49th, as FC Santa Rosa edged Police 1-0 at the St James Barracks, to move up to sixth place, while WASA FC jumped one place to seventh after a 4-1 licking on Bethel United at the WASA Ground, St Joseph. 

Glen Walker (38th and 51st) scored a double while Nathan Julien (13th) and Christian Young (86th) contributed one apiece for WASA. Densyl James (43rd) netted for Bethel. Reigning champs Club Sando Moruga got a hardfought 2-1 win over La Horquetta SA at the Grand Chemin Recreation Ground, Moruga. Nigel John (20th) and Maurice Dick (34th) gave Club Sando Moruga a 2-0 half-time lead, but La Horquetta reduced the deficit through Kwesi Windsor (50th). However, as hard as they tried, La Horquetta were unable to get the precious equaliser. 

In the day’s other meeting, Siparia Spurs and Marabella Family Crisis Centre played to a 1-1 draw at the Petrotrin Ground, Fyzabad. 

Chris Collins put Siparia ahead in the 11th but Juma Clarence levelled the scores in the 88th.
