Second-half goals from Camela Knights and Lataysia Joseph, respectively, helped Vos Government cement a spot in the Atlantic National Primary Schools Football League girls final, yesterday.
The Victoria Education District champion defeated Tobago champion Montgomery Government 2-0 in the semifinal at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago.
The southern-based unit advances to challenge St Agnes Anglican in the girls finale set to kick off tomorrow at 9.30 am in the first match of a double-header at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo.
St Agnes beat Vance River 1-0 on penalty kicks on Tuesday after the scores remained tied (1-) at regulation and extratime.
Knights netted the opening goal for Vos in the 21st minute. Her teammate Joseph, in the 40th minute, sealed the win.
The second match from 10.30 am will see Arima Boy’s RC face off against Santa Flora Government in the boys final, a replay of last year’s deciding match which the Arima-based team whipped Santa Flora by a 3-0 margin.
Expected to be on hand to present awards are Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Anil Roberts, Minister of Education Tim Gopeesingh and the Minister in the Ministry of Education, Clifton DeCouteau.
