Aftershocks of the CLICO fallout has extended to the National Super League as the Management of East West Coaching School made a difficult decision to opt out of the competition. East West, who has been struggling in the standings, finishing thirteenth after the first round, are now unable to field a team as they have not been able to meet their financial commitments to their players. These commitments were upheld by the strong financial backing of CL Financial.

T&TEC will meet Economy Strikers in the final of the 2009 bmobile National Super League Knockout on Friday. The two teams pulled off wins over the Defence Force and Queen’s Park Cricket Club, respectively in the semi-finals on Friday evening in a double-header at the Queen’s Park Oval, St. Clair.
Parkites, Defence Force reach Super semis
Queen’s Park and Defence Force booked places in the semifinal round of the bmobile National Super League knockout competition with contrasting wins on Sunday. The Teteron Boys, beaten in the final last year by the T&T Under-20 team, eked out a 1-0 win over hosts and current league leaders, bmobile Joe Public at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya. Sterling O’Brien was the hero with a 61st minute strike, setting up a semifinal clash on Sunday with the winners of the M&M Harvard and Economy Strikers encounter which takes place tonight at Macoya from 7 pm.
