Kenwyne is one of the outstanding defenders from the National Under 17 team which took part in the historic FIFA Under 17 World Championship in T& T in 2001.

He has been on trial at Manchester United and Middlesbrough also having stints in Holland and Scotland where he was on trial with Glasgow Rangers. He finally secured a contract with English Premiership side Southampton FC.

A strong, aggressive and intelligent defender who can also play in attack.

He represented T& T at the Under 20 level as well, skippering the team and made his international senior debut against Finland in January 2004. He has recently appeared on a regular basis for the senior team.
(TTFF Media player profile)

A swift utility player who is capable of scoring goals or defensive work, Kenwyne Jones was a striker, but ex-national coach Rene Simoes thought he had the stature and skills to become an elite defender.

Most comfortable as a defensive midfielder, Jones could have also had a professional career in cricket or athletics, but chose football. He signed for Southampton in April 2004, and loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City have ensured regular action.

A team member of the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship hosts, he was a regular during the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ preliminaries.
